Sunnies

Folks, even though we’re major fans of rocking the sunnies during colder months as well (we mean, the sun and snow in combo demands some fancy sunglasses). But the true season of going for the fashionable eyewear is the summer months and lucky us that it’s May and the sunny months are a fact!737497_in_pp

Different Styles of Sunnies

The sunnies developed as a functional wear, to protect the eyes from the sun. And as practical as that may be, we’re more interested in the eyewear as their fashionable factor. In fact, we’re dorks of both the cat-eye sunnies á la Audrey Hepburn in the 1960’s, and the oversized mosquito sunglasses popular in the 1970’s. Another favorite is the aviator model that remains associated with the 1970’s, even though they launched in the 1930’s.

Trends 2016

One major eyewear trend this season is the oversized one. No matter what shape, the sunnies should be bigger and better than life (more or less). Prada (to the left) and Dolce & Gabbana both demonstrated the maxi style. Another dominating style, that’s literally taken over every fashionista’s Instagram feed are the round cat eye shape (see below). The sunglasses bottom is round and the top is cat shaped, insanely fashionable we think! A third and loveable trend are the embellished sunnies. Dolce & Gabbana showed the way on this trend too, as well as Anna Sui. Nothing is as good as combining the two things we love, eyewear and embellishment!

Styling the sunnies

As sunnies more and more are a product of fashion, rather than function, they should of course be treated the same way. This means that when matching sunglasses with your outfit, you should give a thought about the color and style. With that said, if you’re opting for a classic look, the cat eye shape will do you good. If you’re going for a boho look, the oversized mosquito ones or the aviator model is your go-to friend!

Folks, what are your favorite eyewear?
