Folks, we did a hair care post back in February, but as it is summer and your hair need all the extra care it can get; we’ve updated the post for summer hair care!
We know, our pinterest board is named Nice Hair Don’t Care, and as sassy as the line itself is - it underlines the contrary of reality. Cause nice hair is all about caring for the hair (hello hair care!). And as summer always tend to be extra rough on our precious hair, it’s important to remember to change your hair care. We’ll take you through some hair care basics, that are universal no matter curly, straight, fluffy, long or short hair.
- Shampoo is for your head scalp and balsam is for the lengths. Shampoo removes dirt and balsam repairs the hair! This means, that you should apply accordingly!
- Don’t brush it while it’s wet. Even though this is the only chance for us curly hair goers to be able to control it, the fact of the matter is that it damages the hair. If you really can’t wait until it’s dry, invest in a brush that’s keen on wet hair (perhaps a detangling one!). Do your research before purchasing.
- Using a lot of hair tools involving heat? Please do your hair a favor and protect it from the heat by proper hair products. Use one that protects the hair from heat, may it be a cream or spray!
- Folks, believe it or not, but there are alternatives to all the chemicals shampoo and hair products often involve. A more natural way of doing your hair is using no-poo products, DIY shampoos and balsams (or not use anything at all). Until we’ve addressed this properly, there are tons of information out there! Search on No-Poo to begin with!
- Sleeping with your hair in a braid is a safe choice as it’ll keep your hair in order while you’re busy getting your beauty sleep! Having the braid in a bun will add the volume to your hair when you let it out in the morning!
Folks, what are your best hair care tips?

great tips. Never knew it was a bad idea to brush hair when it’s wet. Thanks for sharing.
The hair is more sensitive when it’s wet so it’s good to leave it alone! Xx

That’s lovely to do, not washing the hair too often is good as water can dry it out! Xx

Hair care is so so important! these are all great tips. I also don’t use a brush because I have super curly, fine hair! It’s helped my hair grow a little longer 🙂

Your hair is so lovely, so jealous! But yes, brushing the hair can be quite harsh on the hair as it’s rather precious! Xx

Awesome hair care tips! Thanks for sharing! I don’t brush my hair when it is wet because it is almost impossible to run through a comb in my wet hair *LOL*
Hahah yes, some thinks that it’s easier to deal with the hair when it’s dry and others when it’s wet. Luckily, dealing with the hair when it’s dry is the best one for the hair! Xx

Your tip about only using shampoo on the roots is such a good one! I try so hard to remember that when washing my hair and am getting better about it but definitely have room for improvement. This was a great reminder!
That’s lovely that you’re at least aware of it. Shampoo is for dirt and the hair is most greasy by the roots = logical to apply the shampoo where it’s needed! So many tend to forget! Xx
