Valentine’s Day 2018 – Fashion Inspiration

There’s already been so much said about what Valentine’s Day is, what it shouldn’t be and how it should be celebrated. I shall leave that discussion out today and instead seize the opportunity of embracing a fashion of red and pink. Do a dreamy article of some fierce resort/pre-fall looks from the designers that are showing the very best of pink and red. Here’s some fashion inspiration for Valentine’s Day 2018:

Fashion Inspiration – Valentine’s Day 2018

Alexander McQueen Resort 2018

First out is a lovely look from Alexander McQueen. It’s dramatic, it’s bold and it’s embodying everything passion. Red and black has for long been a combination for a more energetic, mystique and dark side of love. The contrast between the two colors is intense, which underlines the electric feeling. Another thing that adds to that element are the voluminous flowers that balances the transparent fabric in a chic way. Love how the dress is styled with pants to make it more wearable and how the shoes connects with the necklace. A fierce look for Valentine’s Day indeed, even if it’s only for inspiration!

Emilio Pucci Resort 2018

I couldn’t resist including this beautiful coat in this article. I love red and pink in combination and I have a never ending love for coats too. The three in combination if thereby often a hit in my book and this Pucci look is no exception. Love the clean lines of the coat and the oversized collar. The pants and boots are typical Pucci style with a contemporary 70s twist. Wouldn’t perhaps match the coat with that specific combo, but I appreciate the clash of colors and prints. If you’d like to recreate a wearable version of this coat combination, take your pink or red clothing piece and contrast it with a pink or red scarf. Kind of creates the same effect!

Marchesa Notte Resort 2018

The fashion brand Marchesa has always had a nice eye for dramatic, glam and red carpet-ready gowns. This red dress from Marchesa Notte is confirms the rule and is a delicate, romantic, lovable dress that balances several typical associations of love in one look. You have the red color, you have the off shoulder style, the 3D flowers, the bow, the floral print, the maxi length and the transparent material. It sounds messy when you write it down but the dress manages to balance it all. I think this is mainly due to the fact that the colors are kept in the same scale, some details used are discrete,  like the bow and the transparent material. The shoulders are left bare and the hairdo is simple which also helps balancing all the details. A dream for Valentine’s Day for sure!

Escada Pre-Fall 2018

The fourth look is all about a matching blazer and pants set. A very specific shade of pink, almost going for the coral color. Love the simple and classic style of both the blazer and the pants,  but with the contemporary twist of the unique color. Note the button of the blazer which looks like an embellished flower which is both a nice pop and adds to the elegant level. The edge in the outfit lies within the styling, where the fishnet socks and shoes contrasts the refinement of the clothes. This look serves as a great inspiration if you want some alternatives to the regular pink and red dresses!

Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2018

Lastly, a sweet treat from Carolina Herrera. There are so many subtle details in this dress that are sublime. Everything from the shoulders to the structured bodice, the 3D flowers, the color contrasts and the fine layering of fabrics. I think this look is quite mature and lady-like, but gives the fashionable look with the pink flowers. If I could work this dress I’d go bold with a pair of boots or keep the delicacy intact with a pair of red stilettos. Perhaps go for the rosy cheeks or the classic red lips! Definitely a dress that’s a gem for this red and pink day.

Folks! Which one of these looks is your favorite for Valentine’s Day 2018? Let’s chat in the comments! Xx

  3. I like Valentine’s Day but I’m not a huge romantic or anything… BUT yes, give me all the red and pink! My favorite here is the Emilio Pucci pink and red coat, or maybe that perfectly tailored, yet bold, Escada suit.

  4. Oh God. This is killing me. SO many gorgeous materials and textures! Alexander McQueen’s resort collection surely steals the show though – would you just look at that embellishment?! Also dying over the black and red stiletto sandals paired with the dress….

    Happy Valentine’s Day!
