Coconut Oil

There are lots of beauty products for us to buy and sometimes the best ones can be found in the grocery shop. And nonetheless completely and perfectly natural ones! This week’s spotlight is the beloved coconut oil who has as much place in our kitchen as in our beauty cabinet (if not even more!).

Hair mask, body oil, lip balm, cuticle softener, frizz fighter, makeup remover, highlighter, shaving cream and the list goes on and on (hello multitasking product!). Thanks to it’s moisturizing characteristics it’s the perfect solution for both dry skin and hair. Celebrities like Emma Stone and supermodel Miranda Kerr have picked up on the beauty benefits of the coconut oil (now we know their secret to looking gorgeous). And yes, we know that it has been a hype for a while now BUT we at The Fashion Folks thinks that it deserves the same attention now when colder days lie ahead.

So conclusion? Coconut oil is a must and can do pretty much everything (well, except mattify…)

The Zipper

So there are certain pieces of function that aren’t given that much thought. But we at The Fashion Folks thinks that it’s out of importance to highlight these. This week’s spotlight is the well-known zipper!

Not only does it have a major, functional, role in some of our most beloved clothing pieces (hello jeans!). For decades it has also been a fashion detail to count on, that both gives edge and style to our clothing pieces. Since the 1930’s it has been a part of women’s fashion, introduced by the genius Elsa Schiaparelli. The late designer first used the zipper to mark the pockets of a jacket and later on she applied them to her eveningwear, dyed in the same color as the fabric.

Since Schiaparellis introduction of the zipper, it has then been a fashion detail to count on (even though it’s still most used for its function rather than appearance) and up to this date designers still use the item for playful details. The zipper is clearly one of, and considered to be, the greatest fashion inventions through time. Perhaps, because it’s incorporated in our lives to a point where we take it for granted (cause it’s so genius!). And frankly speaking, a life without the zipper would not only be more difficult (the struggle of being stressed and button your shirt is real) but also boring detail wise.

Suit up? Zip up we say!

Pink Ribbon Campaign

October - The pink month. If something deserves some extra light, before this month is over, it’s the Pink Ribbon Campaign. This campaign is conducted in October every year in order to fund cancer research, spread knowledge about cancer prevention and breast cancer in general.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. The goal is to increase the amount of survivors and decrease cases of cancer. So join in the campaign and buy a ribbon either for yourself, a loved one or for women in general! It’s easier than ever to participate as many products are a part of the campaign - so head out to the nearest store or find an organisation that suits you to donate to.
We at TFF think pink!

The Eyebrow Pencil

We have a lot to thank the eyebrow pencil for. It has the power to give the face balance and symmetry in just a few strokes. We all know the importance of a pair of well shaped and full brows (we’re talking like, eyebrows on fleek here). And for our brows being a huge part in our makeup look for centuries (almost 100 years ago the eyebrow pencil really took of), the eyebrow pencil really deserves some attention and definitely a spot in our spotlight!
