Metallics - A Fall Must

Ready to put your bling on? We can’t deny that metallics are a staple during fall and the holiday season. It’s the light of the party and brings edge to your look!

Statement metallic eyes are simply a must this fall. Just take a look at Zero + Maria Cornejo, Monique Lhuillier and Leonard’s makeup this season. And since it’s been a little bit of a 90’s fashion here on The Fashion Folks, we can’t skip the makeup to complete the look, right?! And what’s better than metallics to represent the 90’s? (nothing we say!)

For a wearable look - rock a neutral shade, just as flashy as a blue or purple. Top tip? Choose one color and prove that minimalistic doesn’t mean boring. Another wearable way is to use it in the inner corner as a replacement for the highlight to add some drama. (Have you missed our latest makeup tutorial with gold details? It’s a gem!)

Pssst…if you like to keep your makeup simple, or you just can’t get enough of the metallic look, let’s not forget the claws. Metallic nails are not only eye-catching but also touch of detail. There is a wide range of metallic nailpolishes and who doesn’t love some liquid metal?! It’s gorgeous!

Blue Smokey Eye with Gold Details Tutorial

Holiday season is coming up and we at The Fashion Folks think it’s time for some pre-party. So this easy blue smokey eye with gold details will be perfect for any occasion and you will radiate confidence when daring to stand out of the crowd with some colorful yet wearable makeup.

You’ll Never Need Powder Again

… well okay, you’ll need it less (‘Cause we do love powder after all). Oily and greasy skin? Yup, we have been there too. And surely powder is a very good thing when doing your makeup the first time. But when the oil sneaks up on us during the day, 10 layers of powder doesn’t really do us any good.

When oiliness sets in - blotting paper is the one product you’ll need to avoid a cake face or looking like a shiny discoball. They reduce shine by absorbing the oil and keep you looking fresh during the day (and night!) without messing up your makeup. This is a handbag essential for everyone with oily skin!

Since we love multitasking products, here are two other ways to use your blotting papers!

  • To set your makeup. Pat your face after applying creamy products, by absorbing the excess oil it will help the makeup stay put longer. Same goes for the lips. Apply a layer of lipstick, blot and finish with a second layer.
  • As a Stand in for dry shampoo. (In case of emergency!) It won’t really do the trick like actual dry shampoo but by massaging the blotting paper into your roots it will absorb some of the unwanted oils.

Eyeliners To The Next Level

We sure love our regular everyday liner, but it’s time to be brave and take it to the next level (at least now and then). We’re talking about: pencil liners in a dramatic winged shape, an added flash of color turning violet, retro glam or extended fluttery lashes. Basically, everything that puts a twist on your daily liner.

And yes, we do dare to say that this count as a fashion detail that adds the little extra to your outfit.
