One of the biggest trends this year is the shirt. I’m not necessarily talking about the classic, defined, shirt that’s quite timeless: but shirt blouses and shirt dresses too! This style of the shirt has been growing in popularity the past seasons and has become a staple in many wardrobes. I’m a big fan of this trend as well. Anything that’s a new take on classic clothing pieces is welcomed by me, as it keeps the clothes relevant! Here’s a trend alert on the shirts 2019:
The shirts 2019 exist in several different styles. There are the structured shirts, often with statement collars, cuffs and a defined waistline. There are also shirts with statement sleeves and shirts with draped mid-sections. The shirts done as dresses are often done in a similar style but accompanied with ruffled skirts or high slits. I’d say that shirts in white, blue & white stripes, as well as beige, have been the most common ones. This trend is unquestionably a great take on the classic office wear, but with a more bold approach. Great if you want to update your work wardrobe with a touch of trend.
How To Style Shirts 2019
If you want to keep the styling game simple, you can definitely style this trend as you’d do with a “normal” shirt. Go for a pair of jeans and a shirt with stylish sleeves. I’m also a fan of pairing statement shirts with skirts to keep it more refined and sophisticated. For instance, a white structured shirt can be a chic match with a linen skirt. As you might have a lot going on with your shirt (collar, cuffs, draped waist etc), it can be a good idea to keep the accessories and your hair light. Perhaps do a ponytail for an energetic look or a low bun to keep it refined. Love the idea of doing a pair of bold sunnies to keep the look structured. Layer some necklaces, rings or bracelets if you want a more elegant approach. If you’d like to add some edge to the outfit, go for anything denim or leather and you’ll be good to go!
Street Style Inspiration
Here are some stylish looks from the streets! The first look is really chic and wearable with the red/white dress. Love the casual touch of the sneakers. The layering in the second outfit is well done. The secret is that the sweater and the skirt, as well as the bag, is matching. The blue shirt, in its soft hue, is a nice complement. I love the third outfit with its fall style. The boots are nicely contrasting the shirt dress. Same goes for the fourth outfit with the leather material of the skirt being a stylish match with the red shirt. The classic look of the fifth outfit is really good with the timeless white shirt and the blue jeans. Love how simple it can be to look effortlessly chic!
