Okey, let’s not kid ourselves. All fashion is reusable, all fashion is wearable. It doesn’t really matter what’s trending right now, because you should still wear whatever you want. With this said, trends are interesting because they reflect both nostalgia and futurism in society. Looking at past decades to get an understanding (and inspiration) for fashion today is therefore a superb idea. There are three decades that are currently dominating today’s fashion, so let’s have a look at them. And psst, yes, I could’ve mentioned the early 00s too, because that’s a fascinating fashion period, but let’s save that for a later post.
Reusable Fashion Fall 2021
The 80s
The influences of the 80s have been dominating fashion for the past three years I’d say. This was kind of the first revival of the 80s fashion, since the decade ended over 30s years ago. Although the 90s have a lot in common with the 80s fashion, the comeback of the 80s brought back everything (maybe not the beauty trends though) of the decade. We’ve been seeing a lot of statement shoulders, blazers, sleeves, sequins, loose silhouettes and neon! Purple has also been popular in different shades, as well as loose jeans and the powersuit. Read more about the 80s here.
The 90s
The 90s are kind of like the 80s, but less intense. The revival of the 90s has been centred to a minimalist fashion, with a lot of clean silhouettes, mini lengths and fitted items. Think Calvin Klein. Brown, beige and white have been important colors, as well as different pastels. Crop tops have been insanely popular, as well as high-waisted skirts and pants. The loose blazer has also been common. Another aesthetic of the 90s that’s been trending is the street style. College sweaters, oversized t-shirts, chunky sneakers, college socks and so on. This trend has likely been boosted by the pandemic too, which opened up for a lot of loungewear and comfy styles. Walking outside with leggings, a hoodies and chunky sneakers have never been more fashionable.
The 70s
Well, the 70s aren’t dominating fashion yet, but if you look at what the designers have been presenting the two past seasons: the 70s are making a comeback. It was quite recently that the 70s was popular (think the bohemian fashion around 2010 with paisley, feathers and maxi lengths). This time around it’ll definitely be about the long maxi dresses too, but I think we’ll be seeing a more edgy version of the 70s with more leather, suede and denim. Like the 70s jet-setter gone more street style. If you already now want to embrace the 70s with what you got, go for high-waisted jeans, a-line silhouettes, maxi lengths, floral prints, brown, beige, orange and puffy blouses!
Folks! Do you have a favorite of these decades? Let’s chat more about reusable fashion fall 2021 below! Xx

Hello Mia, I hope you had a nice weekend!
This is a really interesting approach to fashion and as we always hear: trends tend to come back so sometimes we have to save a few things in our closets for the trends that won’t take long to come again.
I love the 70s and the 80s, maybe I don’t “adore” 90s like many people right now since I feel I lived that era and I remember all the clothes haha. But I have a devotion for 80s and 70s, so I wouldn’t mind to have some options like these blazers and jackets *_*

I love that last orange outfit! it’s nice that fashion circles back to earlier decades so much, it means that most wardrobes will have things that still work even if they were purchased a while ago! 🙂
Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 We made the most of the warm sunny days after a rainy week 🙂
Very true, all the trends keep coming back and each of them is reausable! xx
