Oscars 2021 – Red Carpet

Folks! The 93rd Oscars gala took place yesterday, and although it was far from normal; it was quite the glam event as always. As for the red carpet, there were some pretty exciting looks! Perhaps not the usual level of Hollywood glam, but still a lot of gems. I’ve picked out three looks that deserves some extra love!

Oscars 2021

Angela Bassett

Okey but how majestetic isn’t Angela Bassett in this dress? Gorgeous with the intense red color, the statement sleeves and the trail. The volume of the sleeves is absolutely gorgeous, embracing a playful but mature fashion. I think the slit is a fine balance to the voluminous sleeves, but I do think a mermaid silhouette would’ve been a stylish alternative too. The styling with the silver jewellery and red lips clutch is genius. Red and silver is always a reliable duo!

Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan’s magnificent dress and styling, might be one of the best ones ever at the Oscars. It feels fresh, innovative, glam, minimalist and incredibly luxe. The minimalist crop top balances the ball gown skirt perfectly. What’s also excellent with this dress is that it feels modern, but without compromising the classic Hollywood glam. The gold color and the sequins surely helps to make the crop top-style suitable for a red carpet event. As for the styling,  I love the simple hairdo and the matching gold earrings. I appreciate that Mulligan doesn’t wear a necklace or a bracelet, it keeps the minimalist look intact. Everything is just perfection, honestly!

Amanda Seyfried

I’ve always thought that Amanda Seyfried’s red carpet game is often next level, and this look is no exception. I absolutely love the way the dress frames her body. Her waist, shoulders and hips are gorgeously displayed! What makes this dress extra, is how the upper part of the dress is cut short, creating a fun and unexpected twist, leaving the shoulders and neck bare. The different shades of red are perfect too, matching her red lips perfectly. I love the old hairstyle too, it adds that old Hollywood vibe.

Folks! What were your thoughts on the Oscars 2021 red carpet? Let’s chat in the comments! Xx

  1. Hey Mia, how you doing?! I hope you’re having a good week so far 🙂

Thanks for reporting about the Oscars, I didn’t watch the show but I was catching some news these days about the movies and of course about the red carpet.

As you well said the level of GLAM was a little bit down, but there are some treasures! My favorite was Zendaya but Amanda Seyfried and Angela Bassett are giving me the dose of glamour I was expecting from the show! I’d love to illustrate those dresses!!

    1. Same to you Pablo!! Yes, I think there were some highlights, although it was far from the regular fashion show. But hey, let’s hope for next year; I’m sure things will be back to normal! I agree that Zendaya was great too and Angela Bassett also had a fashionable look as well. And I think you’d create gorgeous illustrations, I’d love to see them!! Xx

  2. UGH. I have to say, I disliked the show AND the fashion this year. Nothing really wowed me. Even the pre-show red carpet just didn’t cut it. Looking forward to hopefully next year when things are a little more normal!

    1. Oh really! Hahah we often think alike, but not this time I suppose 😉 But yeah, I agree that it could’ve been more interesting and more of a fashion show. But indeed, let’s hope for next year! Xx
