Folks! It’s time for the review from London Fashion Week, and I’ve chosen to highlight no less than JW Anderson Spring 2023. It’s always fun to see what JW Anderson is up to, as the collections are normally full of artsy creations and playful details. Of course this light-hearted vibe is embodied in the spring collection too. Find the review for NYFW here.

JW Anderson Spring 2023
This collection undoubtedly feels like a celebration of the 90s fashion, or maybe an exploration of the 90s fashion is more accurate. It was full of references to the 90s street style such as the loose silhouette, baggy pants, oversized t-shirt and palm prints. Some playful elements were incorporated, such as upside down sweaters, a metallic dress and a bodysuit with a beach print. The color scale was pretty sombre, and the collection is more about specific motifs than prints. I’d say some interesting textures were definitely used, with different kinds of metallics being in centre. As for accessories, the shoes definitely complemented the outfit in an interesting way.
Thoughts On the Collection
Well, avid readers of The Fashion Folks know that I’m not the biggest fan of street style fashion in terms of baggy clothes, t-shirts, old sneakers and beanies etc. And to be honest, it was actually the looks that weren’t too much “old street style” that caught my attention. So sorry for focusing on those look rather than reflecting over the street style. Cause truth to be told, how chic isn’t this glitter dress? I mean, such a simple idea but such a chic execution. It gives space fashion from the 60s. It also comes in black, but I think it’s popping even brighter in bright grey. I also thought the floral dresses were adorable, a bit unexpected in the collection, but still quite interesting. Two other stylish dresses were the satin dresses in the beginning, that were a stylish version of classic slip dresses. Also, we have to mention this metallic creation, don’t know what it is, but I love it.
One part I enjoyed of the street style fashion was the oversized T-shirt dresses. I mean, they’re comfy and quite chic with the print in the middle. I also thought the white oversized t-shirt done in sequins (?) with the earth the in the middle was quite captivating. Also, another thing of the street style, such a perfect oversized hoodie this one is. Other than that, I don’t think the collection was that memorable, except the tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at the end of course, and I’m not sure how it’s going to be worn. It’s one of those collections where the looks are quite okay in their context, but outside of that, it gets more tricky to make it work. Anyway, some looks were really captivating, and it would’ve been fun to see JW Anderson develop that.

Some interesting pieces here. I love the khaki jersey skirt and top outfit. Think these pieces are quite wearable as separates.
