How To Style Ugly Clothes 2021

Isn’t it fun to wear ugly clothes sometimes? I mean, who says fashion has to be all about perfected outfits? I honestly think some of the best clothing pieces I own are quite ugly, BUT they’re fun to look at and they’re fun to style. Here’s how you style ugly clothes 2021:

One way to style ugly clothes is to neutralize them a bit. Not really hiding or so, but to make them less powerful. This will make the ugly piece more natural in the outfit, and through that, more wearable and perhaps less “ugly”. You can neutralize the clothing piece by balancing it with opposing elements. This means, if you’re working a statement blouse, a simple pair of blue jeans will neutralize the blouse. Another way to neutralize is to match the colors. If you’re working a pink patterned dress, add some pink accessories to “anchor” the piece in the outfit. You could also go for neutral colors such as black, white, beige, brown and grey.

This might sound weird, but if you want to make something less of a statement; add another statement! If you’re working an ugly statement top, add some statement shoes to balance the focus points in the outfit. If your bag is a statement, well, make sure to go for some statement pants/a skirt. It’s kind of like you’re showing that you’re intentional with the “ugly” statements and it’s not something random. You wear the statement with confidence, when you make sure to work it not once, but twice.

  1. Hello Mia, I hope you’re having a lovely week!

I was really glad to hear from you and thanks for your latest comment on my latest post! Talking about the topic of the day it is really interesting since many people tend to think that these trends or garments are hard to understand, and they could be difficult specially to “style”.

But you mentioned some really clever points that people sometimes forget about: it is all about balance and neutralize and I tend to do that a lot when I am wearing some colorful pieces or many statement shoes. In order to make those things a little bit more significant you have to offer a contrast 😉

Lovely selection of pics by the way!!
