Focus on Similar Colors

If you’re a beginner when it comes to playing with colors, I suggest you focus on similar colors! For instance, a pale blue and green or a bright purple with a darker purple. The contrast between the colors will be less distinct and your outfit will therefore be more neutral and wearable. One superb idea is to choose one color to start with and then either go brighter or darker. You could also try and mix pastels for a chic look. Work with what you already have in your closet!

Choose Only Two Colors

Another way is to only focus on two colors! Go for red only on top and orange only on bottom. Or why not purple and pink or green and yellow? You can also choose classics such as brown and beige, or a black and white look. But if you don’t wear colors too often, this is your chance to push the boundaries a bit!

Focus on Warm or Cool Colors

And a key factor behind a successful outfit is to either go for cool or warm colors! Sometimes if you can’t understand why two colors that should be working, are clashing, it might be that one is cool and one is warm. A cool color has a blue undertone, whilst a warm color has a yellow undertone. So next time you try to get two colors to go together, make sure their undertones are matching!
