Okey but folks, this is an exciting one. Fall fashion is undoubtedly my favorite, and with all things pandemic and 2020 being insane: I know I’m not the only one who needs this fashion escape! I wrote a preview back in March, but as the tradition follows, a trend update to start fall and September is a must!
Fashion Fall 2020
70’s Bohemian
I feel like this is the first season in at least three years the 1980s or the 1990s aren’t in focus. Of course, the decades are still influencing fashion in a major way, but the 1970s is growing in popularity. The specific style of the 70s’ that’s getting the buzz is the bohemian style. Maxi lengths, earthy colors, fringe, paisley, boots, vests and belts are all key elements. Not to forget: brown, leather and suede are also common. What I like about the 70s’ bohemian style is that it embraces floral maxi dresses layered with leather pieces and belts to accentuate the waist. Such a fun way of working with accessories.
Colorful Matching
Matching bold colors with one another is also a major part of fashion fall 2020. A lot of orange, plum, purple, red and yellow were seen together on the runway. This way of colorblocking is quite common for fall, but doing it in a red/purple/yellow combination was awhile ago. You can of course work these colors however you prefer, but don’t forget the power of discovering and trying new color combinations. Discover more trendy color combinations here.
Maxi Leather
Monochromatic leather is huge this fall. Working leather top to toe is a must try for anyone who loves the edgy materials. Pairing your leather skirt with a leather blazer is one trendy combination, but also the classical one of leather pants and a leather jacket. The idea is that the leather can work on its own, but you can of course mix it up a bit with a knitted piece or why not a delicate lace? Don’t forget that this trend can be done simply by pairing your leather pants and leather boots!
Voluminous Coats
What to say about the coats? Well, if you live in an area where it gets pretty cold, having a really good statement, but still timeless, coat is a must. Extra favorable, and practical, if it’s midi or maxi length. The coats of fall 2020 are often quite voluminous too, with statement sleeves and voluminous silhouette. This style of the coat is perhaps not the most classic and sustainable one, but if you want to mix up your wardrobe a bit, it’s a fun investment.
Layered Brown
If I’ve been talking a lot about beige the past year, brown is probably the next it-color! And the look you should embrace is a layered brown, where you work different shades of the color in the same outfit. Mix lighter hues with darker ones to create an interesting dynamic. You can of course also throw in some beige to make it more captivating. Or even better: work brown with your neons! Neon green and brown is such a cool one, as well as neon orange and brown!
