Folks! It’s time for another collection review from the fashion weeks. This time it’s all about A.W.A.K.E. Mode Fall 2021! The London based label presented a quite deconstructed, playful, fashion vibe. Find last week’s review here. And oh, you can find the full collection here!
A.W.A.K.E. Mode Fall 2021
A.W.A.K.E.’s fall collection had quite the entertaining mood. It was a lot of fashion classics, such as the trench coat and the striped top, but presented in a more contemporary style. The deconstructed skirts were a major part of the collection, as well as the playful tops. It was also some sporty influences with the green, white, red and black color scale. Brown and beige were also used frequently as well as some touches of pink. What made the collection playful, except the deconstructed clothes, were the statement bags. They were perfectly fashionable with the knot, the layered pockets and the knitted style. I definitely spot some new it-bags! Overall though, the collection has a timeless feeling to it, but done in an updated way. The playfulness is real.
Thoughts on the Collection
I’m not too sure about the collection in its entirety, although I appreciate the ambition and intention; but individual clothing pieces and accessories are genius. I’ve always enjoyed looks that are modern interpretations of classics, and A.W.A.K.E. Mode Fall 2021 are full of them. I especially enjoy the skirts of the collection, they’re done in such an entertaining, but wearable, way. For instance, this quilted peplum skirt is a gem. Genius styling too with the striped top and the statement bag. I also love the first look, although the beige skirt is a bold move, it’s wearable with the neutrality of the color. This geometrical circle skirt is also a gem and this green one too. One of the BEST skirts ever though, not even kidding, must be this cognac colored quilted midi skirt. It’s perfection? I adore how timeless it feels with the color and the squared pattern, but also how dynamic it is with the slits. I need it today, preferably yesterday.
Furthermore, we have to talk more about the bags. They’re so stylish on their own, but they’re so perfected with the styling. This bag is a gem with the matching set, the same goes with this maxi green dress. Gorgeous! And also, of course this brown bag with the cognac colored jacket. Such a duo! And yes, this pink one is another gem, although the outfit isn’t doing it any justice. This yellow bag looks quite promising too, with a darling color mix, but I’m not too sure about the rest of the outfit from a more wearable perspective.
Perhaps that’s also the problem of the collection, that too many clothes feels a bit randomly put together and not thorough in their execution. It would’ve been better to mix up the styling a bit. For example, the pink bag I mentioned above would’ve been a hit with this red dress. Or this matching set, which is gorgeous, would also have been better with a matching bag. The styling in this outfit also needs some rethinking. I think some details in the clothes themselves are also causing the problem. Not too sure about the matching of the burnt orange and the checked pattern. Or, this deconstructed pink sweater is gorgeous, but not sure about its wearability. And a lot of the other clothes, except the skirts, are not that innovative, nor memorable. This collection will mainly be remembered for the playful skirts and bags! And that’s more than justified.

Hey Mia, hope you’re having a great beginning of the month and a nice week so far!
I love that new designers and projects are always popping, enhancing a vision of the current necessities and the things we’re looking when it comes to bet on new projects! Nowadays we are more conscious (luckily) about many factors and this project seems to care about that!
This project reminds me of JW Anderson and other similar proposals from London like Rejina Pyo! it looks like a brand with really good expertise!

Hey Pablo, same to you!! Yeah, they definitely have had some good collections in the past and I think they’ll just keep on growing! Xx
This is such an interesting collection! I absolutely love the quilted peplum skirt and the circle skirt too! And those bags are all so amazing! But you are right. I think I like them better as separate pieces.
It is indeed! I love the playfulness though. But yes, it’s probably better as individual pieces! Xx
I love how they’re playing with size and volume here- great collection!
